Buying mycelium-on-grain and calling it an extract. If the material is mycelium grown on grain and harvested with the substrate, the starch can outweigh the fungal content — the beta-glucan assay exposes this immediately. The second mistake is choosing extract type after choosing the claim: a hot-water extract supports a polysaccharide story, a dual extract a broader one — decide the claim, then the material. And do not assume all lion’s mane tastes the same: in a gummy or drink the flavour system has to be built around the actual material.
