Code of Conduct

Three Chinese professionals reviewing documents in a bright boardroom

OUR COMMITMENTS

Code of Conduct

How we expect our own team, our suppliers and our partners to behave — covering labour standards, business integrity, product safety and the environment.

  • Labour standards and lawful employment practices
  • Business integrity, anti-bribery and conflicts of interest
  • Product safety, quality and environmental responsibility

The standards we hold ourselves, our suppliers and our subcontractors to — published so that buyers, auditors and our own teams can hold us to them.

Why We Publish This

Compliance is not a certificate on a wall. It is what happens on a Tuesday afternoon when nobody is watching. We publish this code because our buyers are increasingly required to demonstrate supply-chain due diligence to their own customers and regulators, and because a code that no one outside the company can read is not a code at all.

Where our practice falls short of anything written here, we want to know. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.

Labour Standards

  • No forced or bonded labour. Employment is voluntary, and workers retain their identity documents and their freedom to leave.
  • No child labour. We do not employ anyone under the minimum legal working age in China, and we do not use suppliers who do.
  • Wages and hours. Wages meet or exceed legal minimums and are paid on time. Overtime is voluntary, recorded and compensated at the legal rate.
  • Non-discrimination. Hiring, pay and promotion are based on capability. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, age, disability or marital status.
  • No harassment. Physical, verbal, sexual or psychological harassment is a disciplinary matter and, where it constitutes a criminal act, a matter for the authorities.
  • Freedom of association. Workers may join or form associations as permitted by law.

Health and Safety

  • Documented risk assessments for every production line and material handling task.
  • Personal protective equipment issued, maintained and enforced — not merely made available.
  • Food-safety controls (hygiene, allergen segregation, pest control, foreign-body prevention) treated as a safety obligation, not a quality preference.
  • Reportable incidents investigated, with corrective action recorded and reviewed.
  • Emergency procedures practised rather than merely posted.

Environment

  • Compliance with applicable environmental permits and discharge limits.
  • Waste segregated and routed to licensed handlers; hazardous waste tracked.
  • Energy and water use monitored, with reduction targets reviewed annually.
  • Packaging material choices made with recyclability in mind wherever the product specification allows.

Business Integrity

  • No bribery or facilitation payments, to public officials or to buyers’ employees.
  • No falsified records. Batch records, certificates of analysis and shipping documents reflect what actually happened.
  • Accurate customs declarations. We do not under-declare invoice values, and we will decline a request to do so even at the cost of the order.
  • Confidentiality. Customer formulas, artwork and commercial terms are treated as confidential and are not shared with other clients.
  • Conflict of interest. Employees must declare any personal interest that could affect a purchasing or specification decision.

Suppliers and Subcontractors

We expect the same standards from our own suppliers. Where we use a subcontractor for any part of production or packaging, we remain responsible for the standard of the work and for the conditions under which it is performed. Suppliers are expected to permit audit on reasonable notice.

Raising a Concern

Anyone — a worker, a supplier, a buyer, an auditor or a member of the public — may raise a concern about our conduct. We will not penalise a worker for raising one in good faith.
